Ready for some eye candy?
Please let me show you some of the gorgeous quilts made by participants of the 2024 Cozy Holidays quilt-along! 🥰
In total we had over 200 participants. These were the ones who sent me photos and graciously allowed me to share them on my website.
The quilt top above is by Sarah (Ottawa, @sarahstrapps). I just love how the vibrant colours stand out against the dark blue background! So strikingly beautiful! She says: "What a fun project! I used the all AGF solids kit from Piece Fabric Co., plus some brown bits from my stash. This was my first all FPP full quilt. Long arming to follow!"
Jane Wendel's quilt below using a more earthy palette evokes all the cozy feelings, too. I wish I could cuddle up in that quilt and enjoy a nice hot cup of tea in front of her most perfect log burner! 🔥
Sue MacLatchy's quilt top wasn't assembled at the time she submitted her photo. But look at these beautiful blocks, so neat! She says: "I haven't decided on the colour for my sashing, any thoughts? I just loved this quilt along, thank you Astrid!!!!"
Kay H. used a soft green background, combined with a green sashing and bright red corner stars. 🥰 She says: "I decided on the mint green background from the original pattern ideas that Astrid had sent. I was all set to use a darker green solid for the sashing, but I changed to a print after seeing someone's from the online community. I used my stash for all the rest of the fabrics. I'm so happy with the results. This renewed my love for paper piecing! Thank you!"
Vanessa made all her blocks using a sophisticated palette of orange and plum, teal and green. Below is her gorgeous Ornament block - check out her Instagram page (@birdiequiltcottage) to see the rest!
Muriel Tweed used a lot of warm neutrals for her Cozy Holidays quilt. And she chose the simplified sashing option using plain square corner stones instead of the more tedious sawtooth stars. It turned out so beautiful!
Patty F. (@patty.ferguson.9) went for an all scrappy version, mixing vibrant prints (Heather Ross Sugarplum, Moda Magic Dot) and some coordinating solids from Art Gallery Fabrics.
Susan B. used a lot of prints as well. Can you believe they're all from her Christmas fabric stash?! 👏
Valerie in contrast made her quilt blocks using solids. Don't they look great, so neatly lined up? I can't wait to see them all sewn together!
And another version made from solids. I particularly like Elizabeth H.'s (@patchwork_is_passion) lively gingham stars! So good! 🤩
And here we have another happy scrappy quilt. I just love the variety of different backgrounds and the modified quilt borders! JanW (@winkelacres) says: "I've been collecting Grunge fabrics for awhile and I love a scrappy background so right from the start this seemed it would be a good project for that."
Pam Doughty used a traditional Christmas palette with lots of reds and greens. How pretty are the bright green corner stars, popping against the darker sashing strips?! 🌟
Maren chose to use the same fabric for the block backgrounds and the sashing, creating an elegant and lofty feel around all her characters. She says: "I still have to finish the sashing and quilting, but am loving this project!"
Rosemary G. also chose the same fabric for the background and sashing strips, but using a variety of small-scale prints. So sweet!
Sabine Guhl (@quiltbine) went for a soft yellow background, with coordinating yellow and green gingham stars. Also, I think the quilted Christmas trees and stars are quite effective! 🥰
Patty made a smaller, square quilt, using only 16 instead of all 20 blocks of the collection. I think choosing that subtle print for her sashing was an excellent idea!
Kathy used a mix of colourful solids and red/green stars. I think the quilted swirls and the striped binding are the perfect finish for her beautiful quilt!
Corinna (@elbmiezen) made all her blocks using Art Gallery Pure Solids. She says: "Colors are Pure Solids in Periwinkle, Caviar, Steel, Nebula, Eucalyptus, Matcha, Desert Dunes, Quartz Pink, Crystal Pink, White Linen from AGF. Recipient is my family - we'll use it in our living room. I added the Little Robin block, and left out the train and the teddy bear."
Last but not least, look at Cheryl H.'s festive sashing! And how clever are the plaid star centres?! 👏
I hope you enjoyed seeing all these beautiful Christmas samplers!
Maybe you're even inspired to make your own Cozy Holidays quilt? Of course you can do that anytime on your own schedule. But if you prefer the fun and accountability of a quilt-along, I've got great news: We're starting another round in June, sewing at the comfortable pace of 1 block per week, finishing by the end of November. Intrigued? Excellent, please find more info here!
